Abstract The current built stock in Europe is large and energetically inefficient due to material decay caused by lifelong use lack of maintenance, combined. New buildings are commissioned delivered everyday with an environmental cost, calculated using the Life Cycle Assessment methodology. LCA now widely requested for new assets, while existing ones left demolition consequent carbon emissions released into atmosphere, increasing crisis. In effort increase stock’s energy efficiency rates decrease emission, recovery these assets depicted as strategic next step construction sector. Both goals achieved data generated dedicated software processed Calculation Virtual Environment, according specific needed data. BIM refurbishment design projects allows virtual separated phases simulate conditions envelope its improvement insulation options. one single file clear phase definitions ensures extraction transference all process not entirely automated nevertheless it save, share whenever needed. connection between sources databases cloud provides timesaving regular updates. research findings demonstrate positive outcomes modeling structures simulation oriented LCA, potential sensitive constructions delivering appropriate results based on model enriched geometry, cost evaluation enabling scenario comparison better decision making.
